ac unit... I want to put a window ac unit in my dog house?
Has anyone done this? I can't think of anything that would go wrong. I would use outside electrical cord of proper gauge. Protect it with conduit. Put the window ac unit in the custom window I will cut out in my dog house. build a cage so my dog can't get to the unit. (chicken wire or somthing) Possibly fix a breaker or fuse of some sorts just in case. Probably have to clean out dog hair daily from filter as not to plug it up with debrie and dog hair. Can this be done? Is there anything I'm not looking at? Am I going to kill myself or my dog? Also I was wondering if my 5000 btu unit would freeze up being a small dog house? It's way hot though and the dog house isn't very insulated. The door is just a clear vinyle flappy door. Thanks

This must be a joke.
Are you kidding? Putting a window ac in a doghouse would just waste electricity. Dog houses aren't insulated so the cold air will just go outside. Dogs live outside anyways. They're used to being hot! Just give him a lot of water and he'll be fine.
Well TV preacher Jim Bakker did it. If you don't turn the temp too low it shouldn't freeze up. To be on the save side I think I would run a ground rod close by and be sure the frame of the air conditioner is grounded.

You'll have quite the power bill to pay, without insulation.
Besides protecting the unit from the dog & dog-hair;
you'll need a ground-fault outlet to prevent electrocution.
Wiring conduit will have to be absolutely chew-proof.
Personally, I think a better solution would be a blower.
Connect it to the dog-house with dryer hose.
Try putting some slab foam on the dog-house.
It won't hurt the dog if he chews it, goes right through.

Have a licensed electric do the wiring with a GFI and make sure the AC has an energy setting so you don't freeze the dog to death
You don't want your dog to use his dog house do you? If you put a 5000 BTU ac unit in a dog house, you'll freeze poor old rover. My office is 8x8x8 and a 5000 BTU unit keeps it a balmy 65 degrees when I forget to turn it off. My office is a block building with no insulation.

Do add a power disconnect at the doghouse.
The unit will only freeze up if it has a low charge or if the condenser coil is very dirty.
If you set the thermostat low, you won't freeze your dog.
